2022 W Purple Heart Colorized 1 Oz Silver Proof $1 NGC PF70 FIRST DAY OF ISSUE

Once in a while, a coin comes across my desk that causes me to take pause and look deeper into its meaning, rather than profits and losses. This is such a coin. Mint struck just 25,000 proofs, and of those, just 287 exist in PF70 UC FDOI. That's less than 6 per State! And featured on the NGC label, is the National Purple Heart Honor Mission. It is an organization founded in 1932 to help Combat Veterans that were wounded or killed in battle with special outreach programs and education. General George Washington was the first to issue a Badge of Military Merit in 1782 at West Point.

That became the Purple Heart. Given to those that made extraordinary sacrifice(s) in time of war and for those that payed the ultimate price for our freedom. The coins' design is exemplary on both sides, and the vibrant purple really stands out. You may never see a real Purple Heart, but odds are you see recipients quite often. When you do, shake their hand, thank them for their service, and particularly for Vietnam vets, offer them a heartfelt "Welcome Home".
