We are hearing that a measly 1,000,000 coins will be struck at the San Francisco Mint during this time, which is much less than the tens of millions minted each year at West Point. NGC has certified each of these coins in perfect grade MS70 Early Releases and has designated them to be one of the 1,000,000 coins struck at the San Francisco Mint by putting a (S) on the label. The coin bears no mintmark, so only sealed boxes of Silver Eagles with special serial numbers assigned by the San Francisco Mint will ever bear the (S) designation.
